Stress, Anxiety and More...

Learn More About Stress and Anxiety and What Causes Them

Are you struggling with the pain and frustration of:-

  • Anxiety,

  • Depression,

  • Addictions,

  • Intense Stress,

  • Low Self Esteem,

  • Related Health Issues?

Did you know that underneath all these issues lies unresolved trauma?

I’m often told when exploring these issues with clients "But I don’t have past traumas so this wouldn't apply to me”, however, what we often classify as trauma is the severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) but unresolved trauma comes in many forms.

These traumas could have been forgotten or blocked from our conscious memory, however, the energy of the trauma (the electrical imprints) remain in our bodies and deep in our subconscious mind, simmering away until it is triggered by a current stressful event or situation. This triggering event will then cause us to react in three ways, fight, flight or freeze.

If you find yourself responding to everyday events by overreacting with anger, you have a tendency to go into the fight response. If you find yourself wanting to avoid conflict at all costs you have a tendency to go into the flight response. If you find going completely blank and find it hard to express anything, then your tendency is the freeze response. You may also find yourself alternating between all one or more depending on the circumstances.

Although these three responses are normal and natural survival responses, when they stay "switched on" our stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol get activated. When they are being used constantly, our bodily systems start to break down and we begin to develop sickness, illness and disease.

Signs of Unresolved Trauma

Here are some signs of unresolved trauma:-

1. Chronic Physical and Mental Health Issues

  This includes:-

  • Chronic illness such as fibromyalgia,

  • Crohn's disease, IBS,

  • Autoimmune problems,

  • Migraines, insomnia and other sleep issues,

  • Chronic Fatigue and/or chronic pain,

  • Poor immune health, lack of energy and a body struggling to recover, regenerate and repair.

You may have seen many doctors and health professionals without getting real answers or lasting results. In this case, the stored up energy from past traumas would create a dysregulation of your nervous system which would, in turn, impact the physical systems of the body.

2. Being Really Health Conscious But Still Feeling Unwell

Despite eating, exercising and following alternative health programs you still have chronic health issues. All your efforts are being sabotaged by the overriding nervous system which has shut down from unresolved trauma.

3. Being Anxious and Fearful For No Apparent Reason

This includes feeling agitation, tightness, butterflies in the body or not feeling much in the body at all. This includes more negative focused (or obsessive) thoughts.

4. Resistance

This includes feeling stuck all the time, severe procrastination, feeling passive, invisible and unmotivated.

5. Stuck In Unhealthy Or Toxic Relationships

This includes staying in unsatisfying or toxic relationships, finding it hard to make changes or set clear boundaries, disconnection from your “gut instinct” and what feels instinctively safe or unsafe. Being unable to fully express yourself in relationships. This is a sign of early childhood trauma.

Do you recognise any of the above and how they relate to you?

When I discovered that I ticked many of the above, it was a huge aha moment of realisation as to why I was so sick. I decided that I couldn't continue this way and had to find the answers. What I discovered on my journey was the many sources of my traumas and how I could truly heal them.

Here is a list of the main sources of trauma:-

 The Main Sources of Trauma

You may be surprised to learn the sources of trauma, as you may have not heard of these before. Science in this field especially in neuroscience is moving so quickly that most people’s knowledge is lagging behind.

1. Shock Trauma

This is what we normally think of when we think of trauma, an accident, injury, natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes), which can all lead to trauma, but also physical and sexual abuse. Even verbal abuse is considered shock trauma even from a young age.

2. Accumulated Stress

The industrialised environment, long working hours in unnatural work environments, financial pressures, lack of extended family support, lack of proper sleep, which can all cause havoc on the nervous system.

3.Medical Trauma

This is often overlooked, but it is important and includes medical procedures, anaesthetics, even a routine appointment from an abrupt insensitive doctor or health professional.

4. Early Developmental Trauma

This is a large and very significant category which is rarely acknowledged. This includes frightening things that happened to us under the age of three or whilst in the womb. One of the most common, yet lesser-known factors, is not having secure attachment or healthy emotional support from a reliable parent or carer. This can have devastating consequences growing up and into adulthood of feeling unsafe, anxious and stuck in survival mode.

You Can Truly Heal!

If any of the above resonates with you, makes you feel uncomfortable or triggers an emotional or physical response you will have unresolved trauma.

Despite what you might have been told, despite the years of counselling or therapy, you may have received if are still dealing with unresolved trauma, I would like you to know, with my hand on my heart that you CAN heal, even years or decades after the traumatic events have occurred.

You can also learn what to do, so you are better prepared to properly regulate your nervous system in stressful situations and prevent future trauma.

Not only have I healed my own unresolved traumas, but I have worked with hundreds of people, from all walks of life, with all kinds of past experiences and issues. Whilst every person (and nervous system) heals differently, everyone can heal and be free of their past traumas once and for all. I know I’ve been there.

I know this may sound too good to be true or be seen as miraculous but actually, when we understand how our body system works it is very ordinary and straight forward. Much like before the solution of the aeroplane humans could not imagine that they could fly. Now no one thinks twice about booking a flight to anywhere in the world. Once we had the knowledge and it worked, it became a given.

I have found that the powerful therapies that come together to make up the Heartstream® Process, are not only at the cutting edge of credible scientific research but are making a huge impact on people's lives.
